KICKBOXING (Muay Thai)

Kickboxing classes focus on pad- and partner-work with an emphasis on Muay Thai techniques. Students develop both short-range and long-range skills, including a variety of strikes and kicks. Classes also feature conditioning and mobility training, providing a well-rounded workout that serves as an excellent complement to BJJ.

Students are required to bring their own boxing gloves; no other equipment or gear is needed. Students may borrow a complimentary pair of gloves from RGES for their first lesson only; RGES does not offer a glove-rental program.

Dedicated to beginners, Foundations sessions help students establish safe training habits, as well as cover conceptual frameworks and movements that are the foundation for BJJ.

As a sub-section of the Tuesday & Thursday 6 PM nogi classes, the Foundations sessions bring together the new students to go over the basic concepts, components, and context of what was shown to the whole class. There is positional training within the Foundations sessions, as well. 

The goal is for students to move from the Foundations sessions to participating fully in the regular class. 

While these are nogi sessions, they cover universal material that applies to both gi and nogi training.

The class emphasizes the importance of anti-bullying and self-confidence, teaching children how to defend themselves with respect and control. Focused on fundamental techniques, the class also helps kids understand body movements and develop proprioception, laying a strong foundation for both physical and personal growth.

Kids jiu jitsu classes require a gi. A complimentary gi will be provided for a child's first class.

In our Kids Jiu Jitsu class, young practitioners build character and discipline while learning essential BJJ techniques. FOUNDATIONS - LEGLOCKS (nogi)

Dedicated to beginners, Foundations sessions help students establish safe training habits, as well as cover conceptual frameworks and movements that are the foundation for BJJ.

To prepare students for the 11 AM nogi class, which focuses on leglocks, the standalone Saturday Foundations session also centers on leg attacks. There is positional training within the Foundations sessions, as well. 

The goal is for students to move from the Foundations sessions to participating fully in the regular class. 

While these are nogi sessions, they cover universal material that applies to both gi and nogi training.

NOGI - LEGLOCKS

NOGI - LEGLOCKS

Nogi Jiu Jitsu strips away the traditional gi, leaving practitioners to grapple in a world where every move is fluid and fast. Nogi players rely on precision in technique as well as athleticism to dominate their opponents.

Saturday nogi classes focus on leg attacks ranging from reversals to heel hooks. Students who are new to leg attacks are encouraged to attend the Foundations session at 10:15 AM before joining this class.

For nogi jiu jitsu, wear a rash guard/athletic shirt, tights or shorts (without pockets/clasps/zippers). Gi pants are also acceptable.

During this adults-only open mat, people with previous BJJ experience can drill or train as they please instead of following a formal lesson. Participants are welcome to bring their gis, but people predominantly train nogi during open mats.  

Visitors from all schools are welcome for free; the waiver can be signed in advance to facilitate check-in via our Visitor Sign-Up Form.
